Primary Purpose of Position | This position will assist with tool and equipment support for FM. Duties will include assisting with maintaining a preventative maintenance program, equipment repair, maintaining shop inventory, tracking equipment, setting up and programming autonomous cleaning equipment, maintaining laundry and specialized chemical dispensers used by the BES department, and assisting with other projects and tasks as assigned by the Tool & Equipment Supervisor. |

Experience in the trade(s) areas related to the position's role may be substituted on a year-for-year basis. Essential Job Duties | Facility Maintenance Technician - Building Trades - Journey Tool & Equipment Repair Technician Duties include, but not limited to: 1. Performs repairs on equipment used by FM, as directed by supervision. 2. Provides technical support to troubleshoot equipment issues. Determines when replacement or overhaul of equipment is needed. 3. Assists with the installation and replacement of chemical dispensers. 4. Maintains laundry rooms/laundry program in five BES&R laundry facilities on campus. 5. Maintains inventory control of all BES&R equipment 6. Maintains shop inventory control of all tools, equipment, and parts used by the Tool & Equipment Team. 7. Operates and maintains basic equipment; to include automatic scrubbers, vacuum cleaner, carpet extractors, pallet lifts, laundry equipment, autonomous equipment, and other basic housekeeping equipment. 8. Assists with maintaining various autonomous equipment including programming and training routes followed by the machine in order to fulfill cleaning needs as directed by BES and leadership. 9. Assists with the development and facilitation of new and existing equipment training and preventative maintenance guidelines. 10. Develops knowledge of products and equipment used by FM and fosters positive relationships with vendors. 11. Maintains positive relationships with all Facilities Management supervisors, managers, and other on-campus personnel. 12. Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Archibus, and other software and programs used by FM. Be willing to learn new programs. 13. Member of FM Snow Zone "C" team - required to report to campus during inclement weather and assist with clearing of sidewalks and steps (Mandatory Employee). 14. Assists in developing continuous improvement processes for the Tool & Equipment work unit. 15. Assists with other projects as needed |
Other Work Responsibilities | 1. Use and care for all manual and power equipment and chemicals required for housekeeping, recycling, event support, and exterior litter removal functions. 2. Work is guided by work orders and a daily schedule for general assignments. 3. Perform other related duties as assigned. |
Departmental Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education | 1. High school diploma or GED equivalent. 2. Two years of experience in equipment repair. 3. Must have good organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills. 4. Ability to properly use and care for all manual and power equipment and chemicals required in Building Environmental Services and floor care functions. 5. Ability to effectively communicate using the English language (reading, writing, interpretation and comprehension) is required. 6. Effective skills in verbal, written and interpersonal communications required. 7. Computer literate. 8. Knowledge and skills with Google Chrome, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Microsoft Word and Excel, and willingness to learn new programs required. 9. Ability to work/interact with persons from different backgrounds and cultures. 10. Ability to foster and create an atmosphere of teamwork. 11. Necessary Licenses or Certifications | Positions may be required to possess and maintain required certification, licensure, educational level, and/or experience criteria as applicable to the tasks being performed and follow applicable building codes. Must have a valid driver's license. The Building Trades technician operates assigned vehicles on and/or off campus. S/he must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid driver's license upon appointment to the position. |
