Gartner Consulting serves senior executives leading technology-driven strategic initiatives leveraging the power of Gartner's actionable, objective insights. Through custom analysis and on-the-ground support we enable optimized technology investments and stronger performance on our clients' mission-critical priorities.

Gartner Consulting's Global Strategy and Operations (GSO) team serves as the operational backbone for our consulting business. We are looking for a growth-minded leader to join the GSO leadership team as VP, Consulting operations. This leader is responsible for:

  • Sales operational support - Operational support for our sales-focused Partners, managing adherence to our pricing strategy, and optimizing sales and booking processes with teams across Gartner.

  • Risk Management - Implementing and managing processes that enable Gartner Consulting to be compliant to local regulations and client requirements, and overseeing processes that limit reputation/financial risk.

  • Revenue Management - Reducing revenue leakage, providing oversight for accuracy of forecasts and time entry.

  • Client invoicing - Oversight of invoicing from PO through final invoice, ensuring accuracy and client satisfaction.

  • Business leader operational support - Providing support to senior leaders where needed.

  • Change management sponsorship - Playing an active and visible change leader for organizational changes, process improvements, and new capabilities.

Additionally, the VP, Consulting Operations serves as the business owner for the newly launched Professional Services Automation platform that supports our Consulting business, collaboratingwith business and technology leaders to stabilize and optimize our systems and data.

What you'll do:

This role is instrumental in ensuring operational excellence and supporting the growth and success of our Consulting Business though the following:

  • Leadership:Set a vision and direct activities that impact the success of a global team of 35+ associates.

  • Strategic Partnership:Serve as an operations and risk partner to Consulting's Executive and Senior Leadership teams and business partners.

  • Process Management: Manage and improve operations processes that bring stability to the business and enable growth, prioritizing functions that enable bookings/sales and protect revenue.

  • Risk Oversight: Understand the changing regulatory/legal environment in the markets where Gartner operates. Direct risk operations to ensure a balanced approach betweenprotecting the business while enabling Gartner Consulting to grow. Monitors the effectiveness of procedures to identify points of improvement.

  • Data Analysis: Lead the operations team to analyze financial and operational data to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.

  • For the Professional Services Automation platform:

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as process expert for functions supported by the platform.

  • Collaboration: Work with business leaders, field associates, and technology teams to prioritize process changes and technology enhancements.

  • Data Integrity:Support integrity of consulting business data.

  • Innovation and Standardization: Display and drive a culture of no-limits mindset to foster continuous innovation and globally consistent standards.

Impact of role:

  • Stabilized processes with new Professional Services Automation platform.

  • Improved deal desk/sales support experience for sales-focused partners.

  • Stable revenue management function, appropriately minimizing revenue leakage and providing accurate forecasts for the business.

  • Appropriately manage risk within Consulting engagements, with teams adhering to market requirements and global standards/processes.

  • Establishing a customer-centric, no-limits mindset for stakeholders and team members.


Relationships:

The VP Operations must have strong relationships across Gartner that enable us to support our clients and associates while driving sustainable double-digit growth.The relationships are with:

  • Consulting leadership - Executive and Senior Leadership Teams

  • Consulting Managing Partners and large engagement managers (if needed)

  • Financial Planning & Analytics, Accounting, and Order Management and Booking

  • Legal and Compliance, Ombuds and Tax

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor's Degree required, Masters or MBA preferred.

  • 15+ years progressive business experience, preferably in operations or business consulting role, including 5+ years building and leading teams responsible for strategic operations, reporting and the development and deployment of global teams.

  • Knowledge of consulting business and operations; ideally with exposure to contracting and risk management.

  • Excellent leadership skills, business acumen and ability to effectively manage, lead and supervise a multidisciplinary team.

  • Strong background in strategic leadership and execution in a high growth environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver compelling executive-level presentations.

  • Excellent verbal & written communication skills with demonstrated ability to convey complex concepts and analyses in an accessible and compelling way.

  • Highly developed influencing and negotiating skills.

  • Results-oriented with excellent business vision and strategic thinking.

  • Proven track record of solving complex problems, thinking creatively and successfully drawing the larger business story out of facts and data.

  • Strong knowledge of operations practices with a proven ability to improve, automate, and measure impact.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects and teams in a fast-paced environment and to inspire rapid adoption of change in a complex matrixed organization with distributed virtual teams.

  • Ability to prioritize & handle multiple requests concurrently and consistently deliver superior results in a timely fashion.

  • Ability to develop peer relationships across all business units within Gartner to leverage best practices.

Gartner believes in fair and equitable pay. A reasonable estimate of the base salary range for this role is 158,000 USD - 220,500 USD. Please note that actual salaries may vary within the range, or be above or below the range, based on factors including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, professional achievement, business need, and location. In addition to base salary, employees will participate in either an annual bonus plan based on company and individual performance, or a role-based, uncapped sales incentive plan.
