Test Engineer
Your tasks

TUV SUD, a global leader in electrical product safety certification, transportation products testing, environmental testing, energy efficiency, regulatory affairs and international compliance and has an immediate opening at our facility in Auburn Hills, MI.

This is a Test Engineer position, reporting to the Functional Area Team Manager. The Test Engineer will conduct specified testing and report findings with a high degree of accuracy. This position will maintain confidentiality of customers, products tested and internal proprietary information. Communication with internal and external customers is prompt, courteous and effective.

Primary Responsibilities:

Inspect, photograph, and document products for testing and assessment to international, national, and custom regulations.

Perform and monitor product testing/assessments to applicable requirements.

Collect and document test data in accordance with applicable test procedures and requirements. (In the form of a Test Data Sheet, graphical information, or others as defined by applicable project scope).

Evaluate solder joint quality, dimensional measurements, and compliance to applicable specifications through the means of sectioning, preparing samples, grinding, and polishing.

Capture and interpret Digital Radiographs and Computed Tomography data to evaluate sample condition.

Perform optical inspections of printed circuit boards to detect anomalies per required standards.

Prepare accurate Test Reports, Test Incident Reports and/or Technical Reports, to the appropriate standards and/or procedures.

Ensure project timelines are adhered to, by completing work within the time allocated.

Generate revenue by billing technician or engineering time to TUV SUD customers for testing activities.

Update Supervisors and Program Managers with ongoing project status, daily.

Written and oral communication must be delivered in a prompt and effective manner to internal and external customers which includes, but not limited to; answering technical questions, relaying messages and providing information related to standards and test procedures.

Operate and troubleshoot test equipment including microscopes, automated polishers, X-Ray cabinet, customized equipment, and software.

Validate equipment calibrations are in accordance with their applicable schedules, ranges and in calibration for the entire period used for testing.

Report all equipment and test sample damage to supervisor immediately.

Complete timesheets, daily.

Adhere to all TUV SUD policies and procedures.

Other Responsibilities:

Prepare and coordinate test sample readiness, inclusive of all necessary documentation and internal logging and tagging procedures.

Ensure consumable materials comply with applicable requirements.

Perform equipment verifications or calibrations as assigned (equipment will include digital microscopes, data acquisition systems, environmental chambers, handheld electrical and mechanical gauges, load cells).

Perform Proficiency Testing.

Maintain current training and certifications on specialized equipment and standards.

Your qualifications

Education:

Bachelor's degree in engineering required or relevant experience in the field.

Position Requirements:

Ability to apply and understand basic electrical and/or mechanical concepts.

Must be highly observant and have attention to detail.

Testing experience.

Ability to work well under pressure and adhere to tight deadlines.

Must be available to work overtime hours, as required.

Proficient with MS Windows and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

Proficient in operating laboratory test equipment.

Able to stay focused and professional in a fast paced and stressful environment.

Professionals with 3-5 years of experience.
