Salary Range: $18.69

Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and reliable Janitor to join our team. The Part Time Janitor will be responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the EPA NVFEL Ann Abor, MI facility. This will be an evening shift and 8 hours. This includes performing routine cleaning tasks, such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash and recycling collection, and sanitizing. The Janitor will also be responsible for reporting any supply needs or maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, efficient, and takes pride in ensuring a clean and safe environment for all.

Responsibilities:

  • Clean and maintain designated areas, including but not limited to offices, laboratories, corridors, restrooms, break rooms, exterior windows, loading docks, loading areas and common areas.
  • Assist with monthly cleaning reports.
  • Sweep, mop, strip, scrub, seal, wax, and vacuum floors.
  • Dust and polish furniture and fixtures.
  • Empty trash receptacles and replace liners.
  • Collect the recycled paper from the central locations and deposit the paper in the storage areas
  • Empty recycling receptacles and hauling to recycling bin.
  • Clean windows, mirrors, and other glass surfaces.
  • Clean and disinfect restrooms and restock supplies.
  • Monitor inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment and report to onsite PM.
  • Follow established safety protocols and regulations at all times.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure efficient operations and timely completion of tasks.
  • Provide additional assistance for special occasions, visiting dignitaries, or other occasions of sufficient priority to meet the needs of the occasion.
  • Make minor furniture and/or equipment moves in both the Lab and Office Buildings.
  • Report all hazardous conditions and items in need of repair (bad lights, leaky faucets, etc.).
  • In the event of a pandemic, clean under modified requirements
  • Follow clean computer room, machine shop, and dynamometer test cells special cleaning requirements

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a janitor or in a similar role is preferred.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
  • Ability to use cleaning chemicals and operate cleaning equipment safely.
  • Excellent attention to detail and time management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Physical stamina to perform the required tasks, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Ability to complete yearly Bloodborne Pathogens training and any additional trainings as required
