Primary Responsibilities

HDR is seeking an entry-level System Protection & Studies (SPS) EIT/Coordinator. The primary duties of the SPS EIT/Coordinator position include responsibility for execution of the technical aspects and deliverables of projects assigned and is an entry-level EIT/Coordinator who generally understands and can complete all technical requirements of projects of basic to moderate complexity.

The preferred candidate shall:

  • Conduct analyses to develop design options, performing modeling and/or calculations
  • Complete engineering calculation reports such as load flow, short circuit, grounding and arc flash studies
  • Perform routine engineering and design tasks, and participate in field reviews or construction observation
  • May work independently on small tasks and may assist senior engineers on larger, more complex projects
  • Perform other duties as needed
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

The successful candidate will be expected to establish and maintain good relationships with peers, client organizations, vendor representatives and sub-consultants as well as develop new strategic relationships that will support winning and executing assignments for the electrical engineering group and other groups within HDR.

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or closely related engineering degree
  • EIT certification strongly preferred. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Coordinator" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
  • Experience with power system analysis software: ETAP, Cape, Aspen, PSEE, etc. is highly desirable
  • Ability to produce design drawings including one-lines, three-lines, schematics, general arrangements, connection diagrams, raceway drawings, and bill of materials with guidance from senior engineer
  • Experience with vendor specific relay setting software: Acselerator, UR EnerVista, etc. is desirable.
  • Strong software skills: MS Office Suite knowledgeable CAPE, ASPEN and relay vendor software including SEL, GE and ABB.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
  • Some travel may be required.
